Whale & Puffin Island
Midnight Whale Watching
Iceland is an incredible place to go whale watching - in fact it is one of the best locations in Europe! In total, there are 23 types of whale can be seen in the waters around Iceland. The best time to see whales is from May to September. We only work with the best operators in Iceland as they stick to guidelines to ensure boats don't get too close to whales or disturb them. We recommend that you dress warmly as the Arctic wind at sea can be chilly, even on the warmest days.
The charismatic birds live on the North-Atlantic Ocean during the winter and do not arrive at the puffin colonies until the beginning of the breeding season.
Viðey is an important historic site. Archaeological excavations have disclosed that the island was inhabited already in the 10th century.
