Volcanic Westman Isles are more accessible than ever. In 2010 a new harbour was built right opposite the islands making it feasible to visit from Reykjavik in one day.
We travel across lava fields and farmland in a mini-bus before we board a ferry for a scenic 40 minute boat ride to Heimaey Island with its 4.500 inhabitants.

Get to know the island, its history and geology from the saddle of your bike. Some highlights include the Pompeii of the North, puffin colony in season, Eldfell and Helgafell volcanoes, lava field from 1973, house ruins in the lavafield and more !
